I just got out of the Dark Knight Rises. It was good. I’d say probably the best of the three films in terms of scope. It also did the best job of Nolan’s films of portraying the comic book vibe.
That being said, I do not think it was better than the Avengers. I think one could make the “artistic” argument, but that person is a douche.
This is not me knocking the film. It was wonderful. It was predictable (for a fan of comics anyway).
The Dark Knight Rises is basically that huge payoff you get for watching the other two films (both of which are great). It is filled with action and suspense (despite knowing that everything will be relatively okay in the end), and it brings Nolan’s saga to a close in a satisfying way. It also is infinitely better than most of the cinema garbage out there today. So, go see it (like you weren’t going to anyway).
